Carolus Rex field journal found

Post by Micael »

A field journal belonging to Swedish King Charles XII, perhaps more commonly known as Carolus Rex internationally, have been found.

The journal was not previously known to exist and was found by chance by a researcher by the name of Antoaneta Granberg as she was looking for Slavic language sources in the parts of the so-called Hvitfeldt collection that has yet to be catalogued. The journal is 268 pages long and contains notes from summer 1707 to fall 1717 by the King himself as well as close associates such as Carl Piper and Samuel Åkerhielm.

Might prove to be one of those finds that opens up for reinterpretations or reevaluations of certain things going forward.
