Another Legend has ridden off into the sunset: Texas Ranger Cordell Walker died the other day. According to the article, he died peacefully in his sleep.

Brazil and Chile would be quite happy to take more land from Argentina…

I invite them to try at their convinence. These days the FIDF and FPV Lilibet could see off an Argentinean invasion without help from the main garrison at MPA.

True, but it is the Argentina way of deflecting on what is going on in their country, they do it so many times that BBC news is not even bothered to have it in the daily news broadcast anymore.

The Argentines just don't seem to get the memo. Fantasies such as this get people killed, and usually, it's those peddling such fantasies that wind up paying a price. Ask the ghosts of the 1985 government, or Ayala in Mexico when he started the Baja War..
The difference between diplomacy and war is this: Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so elegantly that they pack for the trip.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.

Happy 4th of July, everyone! Goalie and I took 512 on a flight and overflew the 4th of July parades in Boise, Mountain Home, Pocatello, Salt Lake, and down to Flagstaff. Not a bad way to celebrate Independence Day.

We get enough to stay current. Fortunately, donations from the Collings Foundation, actor Gary Sinise, and the late Microsoft Founder Paul Allen's estate make sure we don't have to worry about fuel and maintenance costs. GE even donates maintenance on the J-79 engines, and has refurbished some for the AF Heritage Flight, the Collings Foundation's own D model, and our own bird. While some FAA inspector squawked a few years back about us having an operational APQ-120 radar. The wise-ass didn't understand that sometimes, ATC radar doesn't show everything, and having a working radar can be a plus in those situations. His supervisor, fortunately, was much more understanding.

That, and they wanted us to disable our ejection seats. Again, the supervisor was much more understanding after a Check Ride where I explained that it made no sense to not have operational ejection seats-and that MiG-23UB crash at Traverse City, MI two years ago proved the wisdom of having operational seats. For some reason, this issue keeps coming up when renewing our FAA registration for the aircraft.

It makes you wonder if Stupidity is contagious in agencies where it shouldn’t be a problem, such as the FAA…

In this case, it's more focusing on one item and not realizing why it's there.

I'm wondering if the FAA let another ejector seat pass without comment, only for it to have an issue and hurt someone. Probably with that theory is if had happened, every warbird operator would have heard about it.

What's the life span on ejector seats anyway?
