NASA’s WB-57 aircraft had a belly landing at Ellington Field today…

First rule of aviation: try to avoid hitting fixed objects, such as the Earth, with the airframe. Hope everyone is okay.

Everything I’ve heard says the crew is fine.

I've seen it coming into for a landing a few times over the years. Thrilling sight

NASA’s going to have to go beg Congress on bended knee for the additional money to repair the aircraft…

Some duct tape (to hold in place the pieces that are moving and shouldn't), some WD-40 (for the pieces that are supposed to move and don't), and it's good as new!

Are we sure NASA will try to get it fixed or get a high altitude drone to replace it?

OOC: Concur: A President Rick Scott wouldn't do it unless there was ample provocation (like closing the Strait of Hormuz).
The difference between diplomacy and war is this: Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so elegantly that they pack for the trip.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.

Saw this on CNN: the PLDP Government in Mexico has put up a monument to 214 passengers and 14 crew who were on board an IL-86 that was splashed in the final days of the Baja War. Those aboard were collaborators and family members who had fled to Mexico during the big war, and this was the last such flight: an F-22 splashed the aircraft SE of Mexico City two days before the coup that overthrew Ayala's regime and put the PLDP in power, then the cease-fire.

The monument notes the demise of "Progressive Americans who worked to bring Socialism to America during the Third World War." They got sent right to where they belong...

That monument needs to be bombed.

The idea of bombing monuments to the dead does leave me feeling a little uncomfortable.

The collaborators I don't have particular sympathy for, but the family members are a different matter.

Most of their family members were, truth be told, lesser includeds, and were every bit as nasty as the late and unlamented Ayala regime allowed them to be. They were bugging out for a damn good reason.

But I wouldn't bomb the memorial.
