Workshop facilities on USN carrier ?

Post by Nik_SpeakerToCats »

Used to be that any warship bigger than eg 'Light Cruiser' had 'respectable' workshop with eg 'big' mill/drill/lathe etc etc.

Do USN Nuclear flat-tops still have such ??

My google search became mired in more woo than hapless Amazon van...

If you cannot see the wood for the trees, deploy LIDAR.

Some, but mostly oriented to specific support for the embarked aircraft.

Edit: and some of the engineering.

Not a tender level but can handle most routine tasks.

In WW2 a destroyer would have its own workshop. I have a 1942 USN standard issue Atlas 6” centre height toolmaker’s lathe taken out of one in my garage!
