Superbowl halftime show

Post by kdahm »

Decidedly somewhere between a meh and WTF.

Plus the production and filming makes it difficult to see what's going on.

In the tiny bit I heard the music sounded better than most of the whiny crap I am (admittedly rarely) subjected to.

Yes. The news coverage is all about the halftime show. The actual game didn't even get to the top part of the CNN website, the ABC website, or the Fox website.

I mean, it actually was a decent game with a few twists. The Seahawks just had some bad luck on their first couple of drives to the red zone, and neither team had an offensive line worth anything. The difference was that the Seahawks had a better running back (Walker) and Darnold was better at dumping the ball before getting sacked.

I'll admit to hypocrisy, I haven't watched the Superbowl or even the half time show in years, probably decades. I may tune in at the end to catch the event programing that follows the post game.

Bad Bunny was sh*t’ insists whichever White House staffer is currently using Donald Trump’s social media.

An unknown White House staffer who is responsible for making many of Donald Trump social media decisions, and updating the world on any current US policies, has insisted today that Bad Bunny’s half-time Superbowl performance ‘was shit’.

Earlier news that Donald Trump called the performance one of the worst ever, despite claiming he wasn’t going to watch it, has now been followed by reports that a Donald Trump staffer also thought it was shit, as he said on Donald Trump’s social media account.

Speaking earlier the staffer, whose name we do not know, told us, “It was shit, and I hate him so there.

“I can confirm on behalf of the president that Bad Bunny is rubbish, and I can make that decision because I decide what the president posts.

“In fact, I think I will get my ICE agents to deport him because he speaks Spanish all the time.

“And then I might do a meme about him, with a slightly racist undertone. And send it from the president’s social media account, but it won’t be the President that said it, it will be me.”

Asked if he is allowed to just make statements on behalf of the president and decide major policies and announcements without the president’s authority, we were told, “Fuck yeah! I can do anything. I might nuke Greenland too, fuck it”

Only reason to watch the Super Bowl anymore is if it's your team playing, and for the commercials... which isn't as important anymore due to half of them being put on YT the day before.

It’s a social occasion.

The question really is whether the NFL is trying for a culturally broad-based appeal to maximize eyeballs, or picking a specific demographic to focus on and maximize that demographic’s attention, even if it costs you viewers in other demographics.

I ended up watching the first couple minutes of the show, realized it wasn't my kind of music, and went and took a nap.

I've not liked a halftime show for a decade or so.

I heard a Taylor Swift song for the first time yesterday, the little I heard of Bad Bunny was better.

I heard a song of hers some time ago. A bit country and western for me.

Bad Bunny? I am really not into any sort of rap etc.

I currently prefer Electric Moon type music.

Do you by any chance find yourself saying that policemen are younger these days?

I don’t think whatever the merits of the half-time show that it merits a Congressional investigation. Unless Congress has nothing else to do this week?

Honestly, no.

And I actually quite like the country music that Taylor Swift put out before she went pop.

Now, GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!

To give a bit of context, I had been up until 3:30 AM the night before, got up at 8 to make omelets for 13 people, and never got my traditional post omelet making nap on Super Bowl Sunday. Since I had to drive the family an hour home after the game, a halftime nap was essential, as was a can of Coke halfway through the 4th quarter.
