It can be a nice way to laugh at people's jokes or thank them for useful information without cluttering a thread with too many quote replies.
I did look for this a while ago and on this particular type of install, there was no “like” option. Shame as I agree with you!

I’ll check with in house IT to see if it can be made possible.

When a thread turns 'mega' and/or 'braided', it becomes very hard to reference a specific post without invoking all the graphics etc,

But, eg Secret Projects forum...
https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/
... has post numbers to allow such.

Any chance for TBO ??

Also, yes, a 'Like' button...

Sorry. I’ve checked and the “Like” button was abandoned for phpBB development.

We can add a post number, it’s a download so I’ll have to get IT onto it.

Each post/reply has a little icon of a page/piece of paper (red for new posts/replies, grey for ones you've read before) just below its title and next to the "by [username] » Day Date Time" string, and that has the direct link to same post/reply, which one can use to create a direct link - for instance to Craiglxviii's response to Calder's request for two subforums.

Craig,

Could you look into the YouTube embed thing. I followed the directions you provided, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. I've tried with several different videos.

I get this when I try.

Just a black screen, and an error message when I try to play it.

That’s odd. I’ll look into this over the weekend. It may be that some back end coding has changed. Bear with me.

For reference I will try to embed the first thing in my YT feed:

Ok. There’s likely a problem with the widget. I shall investigate.

Right. 20 seconds of study shows that:

A) there’s definitely an issue, but;
B) an official bbcode media extension is now available for plain URL pasting.

So I shall get B installed.

Not yet, but that’s because we also need the Board version updating to make it work. In progress.

Did we ever get the table option up and running?

If not, could we?

As long as the thread is bumped, any chance of getting the "centering" feature back?

Higher contrast display than grey-on-grey ??

Post by Nik_SpeakerToCats »

Hi !

Does forum support a higher contrast display style than neat Grey-on-Grey ??

FWIW, I cannot find the menu I used to set that: Where does it live ???

FWIW, AltHist offer a vivid 'white on black' option for 'enhanced accessibility'....

I have tried using Windows global options, but they are best described as 'Excessive Over-kill', like sending a mega-tsunami to clear litter off a beach....
:( :( :(

Following extensive, oft-unpleasant treatment, my vision is some-what improved...
There's more intra-ocular injections, some laser welding and a cataract removal or two in my future !!
But...

When a thread is locked, could reply field be disabled ?

I was a tad surprised to find, after documenting a wife-side nephew's unhappy encounter with US ICE etc while travelling to a prestigious US AI {NDA} conference, the tale was lost...

( His social media / contact list was 'too clean'... )*

No big deal, but a face-palm moment...

*) Heavens knows what ICE etc would have made of his 'Made in China' cap, "MAGA: Trump for Fifth Term !!"

One question do people prefer quoting articles or post just the link?

It depends for me on the size of the article, but then I’m awkward that way

I think most people like having both the link and the article, so you don't have to clutter up your browser history with other stuff unless you really want to.
