NOTES
1) In the TLWverse the Belgian Navy as an independent part of the armed forces wasn’t abandoned in 2000.
2) Belgium already ordered three new French build FREMM frigates as replacement with in service dates planned for 2008, 2009 and 2010, therefore becoming the first export country for the FREMM project.
3) Ex-HNLMS Zuiderkruis. Acquired from Dutch service in 1999, just after decommissioning from service. Serves as command and support ship for the frigates. Might be replaced by a new AOR / LPD if financial participation of Luxemburg can be secured.
4) Survey ships that are also used as command and support vessels for the MCMVs. Ordered from Dutch Royal Schelde Yard in 2002. Same as Dutch vessels of same class.
5) New type of ocean going mine sweeper / hunter. Commonly designed and procured with Belgium, Portugal and France.
6) Common project with the Netherlands and France. * marked ships had their mine hunting gear removed. Iris is used as ammunitions transport, Myosotis as pollution clearance vessel. All are to be modernized.
7) Belonging to the 5th Air Transport Wing of the Belgian Air Force.
8) Alouettes (X3) are being used mainly for training, Sea Kings (X5) as SAR helicopters. All are to be replaced with six new NH-90 helicopters.
