With respect, but I'll pass, thank you.

If I say that I've always hated Section 31 from the moment I first watched DS9 back in the day (No, it's not thirty years old, quit lying! :D) then that's an understatement. So yeah: I've always hated Section 31 as an idea and concept. It's born out of Ronald D. Moore either being a one-trick pony with antagonists (see nBSG or the plot he suggested for a hypothetical DS9 Season 8 in the DS9 documentary) or being a undiscovered conspiracy nutter.

There would have been less stupid ways to make the Federation be less shiny, and the rest of the DS9 writing staff did a good job even without S31, but nooooo....

It wasn't just sub-par writing that made me quit Discovery halfway through Season 3, it was them excrementing all over what I believe Star Trek should be, and I very nearly did the same with DS9 because of Section 31. Just so you know.

Best things to come out of the 2nd season of DSC is the Connie re-design and Strange New Worlds in general. Hopefully they learn that SNW is successful because it so happens that that's what people want.

Concur, very much not a fan of Section 31 in general, and especially not the mirror universe plot in Disco S1/S2.

Disco never really caught my imagination, and so I lost interest early in S1.

But, on the flip side, it’s good that Paramount is supporting the franchise. SNW, Lower Decks, Prodigy and producing a Legacy or Fenris Rangers show would be my preferred venues.

Or just hiring Mike.

I never got Section 31. They felt like an attempt at edginess that DS9 really did not need, it was dark enough without a bunch of semi-competent secret Federation sqirrels already. And with each new iteration, they became edgier, more incompetent and more counter-productive, at times evil. I simply cannot imagine an intelligence service in the Federation that is THAT unsupervised and apparently beholden to nobody.

t is almost like Cerberus in the Mass Effect universe. Unethical experiments, empire building, subversion of the Federation itself and often too dumb to tie its own shoes, so to speak.

I'll give it a short look, but I am not holding out hope.

I am also getting Girl Boss vibes from that picture. And the modern Girl Boss invariably leads to me noping out.
