My daughter shared the meme above with me, and there is a certain amount of truth to it. The Igor figure though, could represent all the mad technicians out there, the ones who are not only questioning the purpose of it all, but are also thinking about how hard it’s going to be to keep the damn thing lubricated.

First of all, though, let’s make something very clear: there are a thousand different types of engineers or more, and when we speak of them as a group, it is very hard to assume what to describe as their day-to-day activities.



It doesn’t help that the above meme really is pretty accurate. The various engineering disciplines are often at odds, not because they have to be, but because no one wants to take the blame for delaying a project. And all engineers at one point or another will delay a project.

No we don't. It's always somebody else that's responsible. We simply identify problems with their work and, for the health and safety of the public, notify the rest of the project team about them.
