LabCoatz has managed to reverse engineer the modern (current) coke recipe using a lot of chemistry and mass spectrometer analysis. He’s arrived at a recipe that’s chemically identical to coke and appears to pass blind tests. He managed to crack the issue with coke’s use of coca leaves which is a problem since they’re difficult to get a hold of, and substituted them with wine tannins.

....What's impressive is that it looks like he was the first guy to do it on his own.
A cool story - when Coke managed to beclown itself in the mid-80s with New Coke, most of its competitors knew well ahead of time that it wasn't going to work out quite the way Coke thought. But most didn't have the resources to do anything about it.
Except Pepsi.
They went for a crash program to reverse engineer Coke that would have done credit to the Manhattan Project, and it worked. Calling it 'Savannah Cola', the taste tests worked beyond their wildest hopes, and Pepsi began to prep for production....and then Coke caved. The Pepsi executive board decided that discretion was the better part of valor and locked the research away.
For a rainy day, one presumes.
