Also know as Route 66. This is the Centennial of its creation. While the Interstate System did kill it, interest in it is still there.

As part of last year's Flagstaff trip, I did travel on parts of it. Route 66 did go through Petrified Forest National Park. Note going through there is well worth it.

Since it was disestablished, it's not easy to use on GPS, so you'll need maps and books. AAA Texas does have a Route 66 map. I'm not sure about other states.

One thing that started my interest were Samantha Brown's episodes on traveling on it. https://www.youtube.com/@RealSamanthaBrown/videos

If you’re interested in highway renumbering nerdery, This Old Road YouTube channel has a good series on California’s Great Renumbering in 1964, and the death of Route 66 in CA.

I checked Google Maps, Googled Route 66, came up with a map that shows US Highway 60, 62, and 69, but no 66. If you zoom in, Route 66 will pop up.
