'Out of Africa', no, China...
Used to be the 'Dark Heart of Africa' would routinely unleash ghastly zoonotic diseases upon the world.
Well, looks like those foot-hills of China, still infamous as Covid's origin, have rolled up a new contender.
Another novel virus found in bats with the potential to infect humans: HKU5-CoV-2

Research led by the Wuhan Institute of Virology has identified a distinct bat virus lineage capable of infecting human cells using the ACE2 receptor. The newly discovered merbecovirus, designated HKU5-CoV-2, was isolated from Pipistrellus bats collected in Guangdong Province, China.

Good news, though capable of 'jumping' to humans, seems has not got 'around to it'.
Bad news, dare we hope Chinese authorities handle such much better than last time ??
Yeah, right...

Worse news, Wuhan Institute of Virology is involved.
Slightly good news Fanucchi has retired and far away from being able to fund anything. If not, let slip the DOGEs of war.

Still cant believe the so called elite politicrap class trusted the CCP that much and still trusts the CCP to the degree they do (well its rock and hard place increasingly by their own dumb moves with china in the 90s for no reason other than easy greed).

Sukhoiman, for some reason, Fauci was help bent on doing gain of function research. The CCP for its own reasons were willing to go along. Frankly, I'm thinking the whole research sector needs a thorough going over. Government funding means researching what the government wants and getting the results the government wants.
As far as

trusting the CCP, they trust the people paying them. A large faction wants to run the US the way the CCP runs China.so called elite politicrap class

Don’t worry, they’re already sacking the Bird Flu experts.

We should just announce that the next outbreak in China gets Directive 7-12.

May I remind folk that 'Gain of Function' is currently the only reliable way to estimate how many 'differs', worst-case mutations a virus etc is still short of going 'Master Key' and climbing all over our immune system ??
The unhappy fact that after Wuhan authorities got past the initial 'Nothing to see here, move along' outright denial phase, their next thought was ' EFF !!! Wuhan Lab Escape !!!', so bleached, purged, 'white-washed' all the evidence.
Even evidence that, with appropriate scrutiny, would have cleared the lab.
Of an escape, mind, not of their ROE-enforced, too-blinkered processes which completely missed Covid's emergence...
All they succeeded was a ghastly combination of 'blowing their cred' and completely blind-siding main-stream research for a few, vital months...
