Sounds like you had a good time, Poohbah.

The Best of Times, actually (which is a regular on Roberta's romantic playlists). ;)

Good to know. So, what unit is CINCSAC sending you to torment next?

Those of us in TAC and AFRES have heard of his reputation-the Missilers in the 569th SMS like to blab in the Mountain Home O-Club.
The difference between diplomacy and war is this: Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so elegantly that they pack for the trip.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.

As the SAC proverb that tells us, "ORI is a dish best served cold."

No warning, just me and the team trooping off of the aircraft.

And I don't even know if I'm scheduled for another go, let alone where.

In the meantime, I hew wood and draw water.

I apparently utterly terrified the 569th's CSP CC. Someone apparently told him that the OPFOR for the 20AF IG was going to be trained by, and I quote, "...the best light infantry tactician America ever produced."

(I find that a somewhat ridiculous bit of hyperbole; I learned my craft as an infantryman from the outstanding officers and NCOs of both the 2nd Infantry Training Regiment USMC and from 42 Commando, Royal Marines. However good I was as a tactician--and that is something I will gladly leave to historians to determine--it was the product of standing on the shoulders of generations of Marines before me.)

Why would I warn whoever you’re being sent after next? I have no acquaintances other than yourself in SAC.

You could warn someone he's coming, then take in the sight of them realize he's not coming.

The Commandant just told me to not even think about it if I want to make Major General.

He either thinks it's a bad idea or he as someone else in mind for the job.

Would it better if the OPFOR were Marine Force Recon / Raider or Army Special Forces? That way they get training they need and provide training to the USAF.

Someone needs to go get some asses kicked at the 705th SMS at Wendover. Last IRR period, I went down to NE Nevada to do a simulated Scud hunt with Kara and Goalie (She was flying Back Seat to Kara), and what did we find? A missile convoy, moving along some back road fat, dumb, and happy. They didn't know we were there until we called the first simulated Maverick shots, and when it was over? I got on the radio and reminded them that if we had been a Backfire, a Physics Package would've been the ordnance of choice, and it would've been over in the blink of an eye.

And in the afternoon sortie? Played ACT with the Singapore AF guys. The old hands know how hard we play. The newbies still don't like losing to girls.

Well, that explains why CINCSAC Actual just relieved the entire 705th SMS command triad for cause this afternoon.

I'm recommending a joint tour as Penguin Census Officer at McMurdo.
