Well, I am at Sawyer AFB.
Why? Because of the old SAC proverb that tells us, "ORI is a dish best served cold."

Sounds like you’re having fun tormenting the unit at K.I. Sawyer…

I'm a firm believer in the dictum that the more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war, and that you can only expect what you inspect.
I am not interested in the names of these airmen's fathers, nor in their families' lineage. What I
am interested in . . . is their breaking point!

You stole that from General Chang at Gowen Field. You know, your daughter’s Commanding Officer in the Idaho National Guard (or at least he was at one point)…

Yes, I did. Cheerfully!
He's been the Adjutant Gen since 2019, and just announced he's dropping a retirement package at the end of 2024.

It's hard to celebrate when you're half asleep. I know, I tried.

It's just Roberta and me this year.
Christmas Eve dinner is oven-roasted tenderloin of beef, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, a roasted vegetable medley, homemade cranberry sauce with lime juice, and made-from-scratch apple pie.
Tomorrow night? Microwaved Stouffer's French bread pizza and boxed wine. (From our first Christmas--when we discovered that, under the wrong circumstances, turkey stuffed with popcorn becomes a UXO hazard.
Tuesday is our 31st anniversary.
Life is good.

Well, Merry Christmas! Eric and Sandy made the trip from Shaw and Kirtland, respectively (He's a Viper driver at Shaw with the 363rd TFW, while Sandy is now an instructor Osprey pilot at Kirtland). They brought their respective boy/girlfriends, but no commitment yet to go down the aisle. Melanie is at RAF Lakenheath with the 48th TFW as a Strike Eagle pilot, like her dad, but couldn't get Xmas leave-be glad for this new stuff called Skype. Kara was here along with her current boyfriend (she's had half a dozen since her last serious relationship broke up a couple years after the Baja War), but Kacey is with her friends at Charleston. Kelly Ray and Brad are also here, and though politics is not up for usual discussion at the party or tomorrow night's dinner, the fact that Kelly is practically unopposed for the Sheriff's race in Bannock County has come up.
Oh, well.Tomorrow night's the feast, and then after that? Getting rid of leftovers.
Merry Xmas!

Late breaking news: Roberta Charlotte Perry (named for her grandmothers) was born at 2357 local in Boise, Idaho.
Mother and daughter are doing fine; Brian, however, is absolutely exhausted (he's been more or less 100% on the go for the last 60 hours).

Happy New Year!
We spent the holiday weekend at a bed & breakfast on the shore of Big Bear Lake. It got chilly in the evenings, but that made for a great reason to snuggle next to the fire with hot apple cider.
