Got a question about the US currency captured during the invasion. Even if the Federal Reserve Banks moved or destroyed the money they had, the Soviets still got the money in every bank in occupied territory.
They would have been able to either ship it back to the Russia or take it to Mexico, then to Latin America and deposit it in neutral countries.
If I remember right, the US marked the currency used in Hawaii so if Hawaii was occupied, they could disavow the currency.
What if anything could the US do to neutralize the money.
The Federal Reserve banks are probably 11th Dallas, 10th Kanas City, 9th Minneapolis, and 8th St. Louis.
The Federal Reserve and the Department of the Treasury were some of the most prepared organizations for
Der Tag.
There was an order to burn currency in danger of capture issued on Day One, and scrip was getting issued by D+15 within 100 miles of the FLOT. They got SOME currency, but not as much as anyone predicted (or that they hoped).
Also, Treasury had their act together for tracking currency movements. They also had a team supporting JSOC, make of that what you will. Worth noting that there were about a dozen truly spectacular bank robberies around the world during the war, and all of them remain unsolved.
I assume they were also attacking occupation and Red money supplies?
It wouldn’t surprise me one little bit if that was the case…

I’d be very disappointed if they didn’t.

Safe travels are done, and I'm back home. SoCal was good, with the side trip on the way back to Blackbird Airpark and the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark in Palmdale. Even had a B-2 sighting! He took off from Palmdale Regional (Plant 42), went around, then did a touch-and-go, before coming around again and landing.
Century Circle just before the West Gate at Edwards AFB was nice, but disappointing. The F-106B and F-101B were very nice, as they had been painted recently, or so it seemed. The Hun, Thud, Widow-maker, and Delta Dart were all in need of new paint jobs. So no pics..(Bummer!)

Too bad you didn't catch the B-21 flying.

Guys, there’s supposedly video of the B-21 taking off and landing on YouTube…

Viktor Belenko, who has a Cameo in Meeting the Brass, and has appeared in one of Poobah's stories as well-discussing things with Col. Mitchell Gant, has flown west. He was 76. He passed on Sept. 24, but it wasn't announced until recently, by his son from his marriage to an American.

Frank Borman from the Apollo 13 mission passed away eight days ago.

You mean Apollo 8. Jim Lovell flew both 8 and 13, but he's still with us along with Fred Haise.

In responding to the Dark Earth thread, I found the Denver mint has gold reserves, as of 2017, it had 43,853,707.279 Fine Troy ounces of US gold about 1500 tons of the stuff. I'm not sure about silver stored there. Would it be flown to Fort Knox or taken by land?

I hope everyone is staying safe in this bitterly cold weather.

Probably convoyed overland.

Out here in San Diego, people are tying a second sweater around their necks.

Could someone please remind me of who it was that was supposed to deal with NASA and massacred Clear Lake after the Johnson Space Center was found stripped to the walls?

Sergei Khvostov. None too tightly wrapped to begin with, and he went full Dirlewangr when he found the sign saying "Catch us if you can."
