General Discussion Thread
Re: General Discussion Thread
Well, I have had my last duty day at Warren. I start checking out on Monday.
The day started with my Friday morning ritual of leading what used to be called remedial PT before Boss-Ma'am and I got ahold of it. The new title is "Fitness Improvement." Now, attendance is mandatory for those who do fail, but we also make it optional for those who want coaching on how to do better. And the emphasis is on coaching; we moved away from a punitive mentality. Sometimes, just learning proper hand placement for pushups or proper run pacing turns a failure around in just one day. Getting away from the negatives and focusing on "fitness as a skill" and overall personal development greatly shortened how long people were required to be in the program.
I am going to miss the camaraderie and just simple fun we had on this program. Maybe get it fired up at March.
Rest of the day got spent on final turnover to BGen Rachel Delaney, and my farewell party.
Life is good.

Veteran's Day weekend will be good: Goalie and I got invited to take 512 down to Nellis for their Open House. Flying both days (11th and 12th), with a practice day on the 10th. Of course we'll be there.
Had some practice flying today with MAJ "Beo" Wolfe and the F-24 Demo Team. Even did some mock dogfighting over the Hill Range (VFR rules, no radar, hard deck of 5,000 feet AGL). Honors were even this time.

I talked to my boss about this “fitness as a skill” idea and introducing it to the Corps. He’s intrigued by it.Poohbah wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 7:38 am Well, I have had my last duty day at Warren. I start checking out on Monday.

I'll send you the 20AF physical fitness instruction (Appendix E covers the principles and execution of the Fitness Improvement Program) and the briefing Boss-Ma'am gave at this year's Corona Conference. She gave a solid outline of the concept, and then showed before and after metrics within 20AF from her assuming command in 2021 to 2023. Word is Military Airlift Command is trying this starting next month, and Big Air Force is going to be watching the results.Wolfman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 2:54 amI talked to my boss about this “fitness as a skill” idea and introducing it to the Corps. Posting from an undisclosed location in Colorado:
Roberta and I are using my PCS as an excuse for a romantic vacation together, making our way across Colorado well off of the beaten track, savoring the changing season. It's been very restful.
Well, this morning, we were eating breakfast at an outdoor cafe, when a certain religious group (which shall remain nameless) barged into town, barged in on everyone at the cafe, and started asking nosy questions before the cafe staff could boot them out.
One asked Roberta, "How do you view lesbian relationships?"
Roberta was kind enough to give me The Raised Eyebrow of Beverage Warning.
Her reply: "In high-def, usually."

I’d call it a terminal case, but I don’t want to really insult these people any more than I have to.

Re: General Discussion Thread
Saw this while skimming Google news: that leftie professor who testified at the war crimes trial of "Fidel"? The one who accused Kelly Ray and other ex-POWs of either exaggerating the extent of the torture they endured-if not flat out lying? Well, he's in Switzerland now, and he's trying to organize some kind of "People's Tribunal" dealing with alleged war crimes. Alleged U.S., British, and Canadian ones. Among his complaints? The Apache Trackers and the rest of the Tribe in Arizona and New Mexico (including those who turned guerrilla in Soviet-occupied territory) who took captured Soviets and Cubans, staked them out in the desert before they were scalped and flayed alive. Then he's wailing about the Royal Navy turning Puerto Belgrano in Argentina into a live-fire Polaris event (ignoring the fact the Argentines were warned about not messing with the Falklands again-or else); Two EASTERN EXPRESS raids-one where a Soviet Nuclear-weapons R&D Center was hit with Bigeye chemical bombs-the city may be habitable in 15,000 or so years due to a runaway nuclear reactor, and the other was a strike on a dam near Krasnoyarsk that took out the flood gates of the dam, and the resulting flood washed away part of the Trans-Siberian Railroad, wrecked a hydro power plant, and washed out half the town.
So far, the reaction of the Swiss has been "You're upset about events in World War III and that was how long ago? How quaint."

One would hope, but then again, he's in Switzerland, we don't have an extradition treaty, and they don't like it when intelligence agencies or law enforcement snatch people from their territory.

1. You notice he hasn't given up his US Citizenship.
2. I'm surprised the Swiss let him in. He tried going to Argentine to commemorate Puerto Belgrano and they wouldn't let him in. He raised a stink, so locked him up at the airport until his flight out.
3. Arresting him would be mistake since it would give him what he wants most, a platform. Best thing is to ignore him. The fact he's getting any coverage makes me wonder if the press is slipping back to bad habits.
