And Boss-Ma'am Is. Not. Happy.

Two LCC crews were playing stupid games this evening on a secure network used by the LCCs at Minot, and they ended up causing the whoopie lights to come on at the Wing Command Post, 20AF Command Post, the SAC Primary Command Post, and on board Looking Glass.

Making things worse: the crew on Looking Glass didn't verify that they were on secure comms before asking WTF, and then they further disregarded procedures and tried to help the ground crews reset things on the fly. A bunch of inside baseball stuff that (a) should never have been attempted by the Looking Glass crew and (b) should never have been broadcast in clear has now been compromised, and is now in the public domain on various internet fora.

General Drake (the new CINCSAC as of 1 October) is taking the heat for the Looking Glass end of things. He's a former missileer, and he's familiar with the stupid games in question (you're not supposed to play with the switchology on that net, and that came about while he was a STANEVAL crew lead some years back, precisely because of stuff like this). Boss-Ma'am is acting with dispatch, and I'm getting ready to fly to Minot to head up the network forensics and the JAGMAN investigation (as in, I'm packing my bags right now and waiting on a car to take me to Cheyenne Regional to catch a WYANG C-130.

This is going to be a mess.

It’s Minot.

Even civvies in Bismarck and Mandan know there’s something inherently just . . . wrong . . . with anybody remotely associated with Minot.

(OOC: that’s very true in @ too)

I was in ND for Thanksgiving, and apparently Minot is trying to class things up by making the t silent. Despite running with the “Why not Minot?” tourism campaign.

I guess the list of reasons why not was too long.

How are we supposed to keep the airstrips at Thule, Shemya and McMurdo Sound open in winter if you keep shooting the future members of the snowshovel crew?

So, Poohbah, how many people are going to spend the rest of their careers shoveling snow in places like Thule and McMurdo Sound?

Shoveling snow doesn't see to work. Too bad we don't have a joint Calvary regiment, they could shovel the output from the horses.

Make the duty uniform skivvies.

And we do have horse detachments. (OOC: the 11th Cav has a horse troop, and so does 3rd Infantry. Did those carry over? Also, what about MP mounted units?)

Not enough output for the bodies we have.

Have the Army go green with it’s fertilizer and assign them to groundskeeping units.

Not yet determined. I have a head cold and a JAGMAN investigation; I am uncertain as to which one is more annoying.

Well, had my first progress briefing with Boss-Ma'am and CINCSAC.

CINCSAC gave me one constraint: "No disintegrations."

(Am I that obvious?)

Boss-Ma'am does like to ride herd on her subordinates, looks like.

Just glad to be IRR and that's that, even with AFROTC at two institutions of higher learning (Idaho State and Utah State) having both me and Goalie on retainer to lecture to their cadets. Though the occasional trip to the Springs does come...

Budget cuts. She got the bill for your medium consultant on interrogation and had to sign the royalty checks for “Hollaback Girl.”

Part and parcel of working in any hierarchy: seniors want to know how it's going. Boss-ma'am generally leaves subordinates to do the actual job, and uses these meetings to identify any resources or other support needed and see that they're supplied promptly.

This is a rather easy JAGMAN investigation, actually. The evidentiary phase is complete, and I'm writing up the report tomorrow.
