IIRC, they got to keep the rifles, but had to hand over the explosives and RPGs…
I wouldn't trust 30-year-old Serious Putty. Just Sayin'.
Neither would I!

The scary part was finding out there was NO SOP to handle cache finds.
That's being drafted now in Congress. What people can keep, what they have to hand over, and even setting out the type of compensation.
The question is whether to include a comp plan for suitcase nukes. None have turned up, but after Lubbock...

OOC, on the old board, I thought the SOP was, small arms up .50 Cal was the finder, crew service, machine guns, finder, mortars, RPGs, anything with explosives, the Government got with compensation to finder, WDMS, compensation and NDA with teeth.
IC, you'd better include a public notice that Chemical weapons were found in the area. Where is this one, there's normally more.

And, in news from the 8th Circuit Court:
The evidence collected by the 306th Cyber Wing at El Forko Grande during the investigation of blinding lasers and drone operations at the approach ends of the runways has been ruled as admissible in court.
Special thanks to the Grand Forks AFB Staff Judge Advocate office for helping me and my operators to color inside the lines on very short notice back in 2021.
Time for these idiots to give their souls to Jeebus, 'cuz their Biblical Beasts of Burden, and all appurtenances thereunto, are going to belong to the United States Attorney's Office for the District of North Dakota.

Now to see if these punks will flip, and start naming names. I'm curious as to whether anyone uh, "inspired" or to use the legal term, "incited" them.

The legal millstone grinds slow, but it grinds fine.

You think they’re smart enough to recognize the opportunity to try for a lighter sentence?

If they were smart enough to do that, they wouldn't have done deed in the first place.

I see. How long do you think these idiots will spend behind bars for this once they’re convicted?

Big ouch..
And if anyone is found to have, well, encouraged or incited these miscreants? They will likely be facing more than that.

Yeah, that original figure predicated on them just being individual clueless dumbasses. Malicious intent comes under the National Defense and Security Act of 1986, and that gets treated a whole lot differently.

They are looking at the Red Lawyer couple from Portland, along with two or three ex-faculty members from the now-shuttered Evergreen College in Washington: their names have come up, according to a Boise TV station that's reported on the knotheads facing charges for shining lasers at 124th TFW A-10s. I would not be at all surprised if they do get hauled in front of a Grand Jury...
FYI Evergreen was shut down during the war by the State of Washington due to "rampant" Pro-Soviet and Pro-Cuban activity among the faculty and some of the students. It did not reopen after the war, and a branch of the University of Washington now uses the campus, specializing in not just Ag and Forestry courses, but also aeronautics and related subjects due to their proximity to Boeing-Seattle.

That has to hurt for the facility.
