UK immigration laws are just as painful to deal with as US ones. There is zero chance of any of them making it over here to stay unless they find someone to marry them.

I’ve heard mention of moves to the countries you might expect, that is the UK, France, Spain, and Italy. But for some reason I’ve also seen Albania pop up (???), and I’d love to hear the reasoning behind that.jemhouston wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 2:45 pm I've heard of a few stars actually moving out of the US. Most common is CA to the UK. That's a good think, it cuts down on the CA tax base and increases the UK tax base.
They have enough money so that reality won't hit up the side of the head.

Don’t remember who it was now, just saw it a few days ago.jemhouston wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 5:21 pmWho's going to Albania?Micael wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 5:12 pmI’ve heard mention of moves to the countries you might expect, that is the UK, France, Spain, and Italy. Yeah, they’re not really that fluent in English in general, and it’s not an overly easy language to learn. To just mention one of many reasons Albania would not be at the top of my list of places to move to.jemhouston wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 6:22 pm Albania is off the beaten path, probably a cheaper cost of living than New York or CA. I hope they learn the language.
The nasty side of me is wondering what they're hoping to get away with if they toss enough cash around.Micael wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 6:46 pmYeah, they’re not really that fluent in English in general, and it’s not an overly easy language to learn. ....Oh, they are NOT fond of outlanders in Albania. Keep your mouth shut and behave yourself, and they'll leave you alone.Micael wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 5:12 pmI’ve heard mention of moves to the countries you might expect, that is the UK, France, Spain, and Italy. Mike, I think the US is only country that tolerates outlanders showing up and chiming in on how things should be run.MikeKozlowski wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 10:25 pm....Oh, they are NOT fond of outlanders in Albania. But that's a standard these folks might not be able to meet.

Ahahahahahaha, REALLY? One of the reasons the USA keeps rubbing a large part of the world the wrong way is that you do little else BUT tell others how to run things.jemhouston wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 10:58 pmMike, I think the US is only country that tolerates outlanders showing up and chiming in on how things should be run.MikeKozlowski wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 10:25 pm....Oh, they are NOT fond of outlanders in Albania. Look. Here’s an illegal immigrant swearing at the camera crew before going off to claim his free food, housing, healthcare and spending money.
Because it's trueCan I also just add that suggesting that there are actual Marxists in the Labour Party was a great joke. I did laugh a lot. Though, why wasn’t it in the jokes thread?
We have declared Marxists over here, why wouldn’t they be over there?Simon Darkshade wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:29 am I think a reasonable argument could be made for Dianne Abbott and, until the whip was withdrawn on 23rd July, John McDonnell. There are possibly other MPs who might even self describe themselves as such within the Socialist Campaign Group, but there isn't clear information on that. Given the increase in the party membership during the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn did include a lot of former members and younger radicals, and that this group hasn't yet completely gone away (as evidenced by party membership figures), then it is quite likely that there are Marxists among the rank and file membership of Labour.
As such, I don't believe that the idea that there are actual Marxists among the members of the Labour Party is that silly of a concept to the extent of being pooh-poohed as laughable.
