I meant that he got away with taking 3rd Army on a nice drive through bits of France that were away from the main line of advance. And, seems to have deliberately run his army out of fuel so that he could get his own way. He probably should have been relieved over the number of casualties his army was suffering, but in his case, sucess in battle won out.
