To quote from his Daily Telegraph obituary talking about a couple of episodes of his TV show The Goodies:
To quote from his Daily Telegraph obituary talking about a couple of episodes of his TV show The Goodies:
On top of that there was this:One of the most memorable was when a giant kitten was cast as the villain “Kitten Kong”, and thanks to some ingenious trickery, appeared to climb and demolish the Post Office Tower in central London. When the episode was remade, with extra film sequences, it won the Silver Rose at the Montreux Light Entertainment Festival in 1972.
One episode from 1975, “Kung Fu Kapers” – centred on a Lancashire martial art called “Ecky Thump” that involved hitting people with black puddings – caused one viewer, a Mr Alex Mitchell of King’s Lynn, to expire after laughing non-stop for half an hour. His widow wrote to the cast to thank them for making his last moments so happy.
