Not sure that enough for a law license revoked, but their Bar Association may be able to take a look at them.
Re: General Discussion Thread
Liable to get some kind of sanctions for that. Probably a fine.jemhouston wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 3:05 pm Not sure that enough for a law license revoked, but their Bar Association may be able to take a look at them.

They're Reds, but they're also not stupid. Something like this, the Bar Association usually would call "Civil Disobedience", and not raise a fuss over. As soon as they're hauled in on felony charges, that's different. That they've lasted this long without seeing the inside of state or federal lockups should tell you something.

Re: General Discussion Thread
There was a recent event where the SEC sent in the FBI to seize all documents at a Chicago private equity firm.
The FBI faxed a warrant from a UPS Store to the safe manufacturer, and got the master code for that particular electronic lock.
By text message to the requesting agent.
Without independently verifying his credentials.
Boss-Ma'am sent the article to me, the Cyber Security DAA here at Warren, and the 306th at El Forko Grande with the title, "Spot the INFOSEC Violations!"
Colonel Minerva Waldeck, the brand new CO at the 306th, called me up and was cussing like a drunken sailor in Norfolk hearing "Last Call."
(I asked her if her mother knew she talked like that. Turns out her mother was a machinist's mate on the Moosbrugger during the war. Comes by it honestly, I guess.)
She was cussing because the other shoe dropped yesterday.
That safe manufacturer just got awarded (as in, just yesterday) an indefinite duration/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to supply classified material storage containers for the GSA, that could be purchased using unit funds.
Using the same damn locks!
The GSA has put the contract award on hold...

A little more background, you can reset the master code, but the MFG will only release the needed info a MFG certified locksmith.

Re: General Discussion Thread
Back when I was doing security penetration testing for a living, I routinely social-engineered master reset codes out of manufacturers. Even the ones that had decent security protocols written down ended up hiring high school dropouts working for minimum wage to man the call center, and they are expected to have a very high clearance rate (something like 99% resolved within six minutes is typical). That is a recipe for security breaches.jemhouston wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:35 amPoohbah wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 3:11 am There was a recent event where the SEC sent in the FBI to seize all documents at a Chicago private equity firm.

The NSA has one hard and fast rule on electronic locks: no reset codes of any kind. Any keyed backup entry should be highly resistant to being picked, and there are pretty strict physical key handling protocols spelled out in the Rainbow series of books.
The GSA this morning just put out that the contract was being revoked due to "...misstatements of fact by the Contractor to the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative..."
That is language that generally results in a debarment action against the contractor.

Well, change of command parade is over, and the protesters blocking the gate got cleared in triple time.
The CSP commander announced that anyone who got apprehended was getting a warrant check.
Apparently, this caused 80% of the protesters to clear out
20AF and assigned units looked sharp on parade--everyone put in that last bit of extra effort to wish Boss-Ma'am farewell and good hunting in DC.

Actually, Hercules was otherwise occupied and said Boss-Ma'am was the best choice to clean up the swamp. His second choice was B-83.
