I don't know.
If all they're offering is $$$, I'd hold out until you can get at LEAST $$$$, if not $$$$$.

Re: Nail biting time
got my walking papers today - decent severance package. I did note in the fine print that during the severance period
1: they reserve the right to recall me
2: they reserve the right to be available for consultation
3: non compete clause
This all seems seems reasonable as it essentially defers my retirement a bit.

Make sure you have that in writing. A friend of mine was promised a lump sum instead of raise effective October 2. He got laid off the last day in September.rtoldman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 7:45 pmjust got the "we really dont want you to retire right now but if you wait till xxx project is done we will lay you off with yyy severence call" Wow, with that much $$$ on the table I have to think about it.warshipadmin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 6:59 am Just got the estimate of my payout if I take a voluntary retrenchment. Now I have to wait and see if they will let me go (for the sixth time of asking). 4 weeks pay for each year, plus various accumulated leave, and I've racked up 22 years.
Re: Nail biting time
I have the written offer in my email. I just have to proofread and sign

Good stuff. I get told on Monday, actual on site meeting with my manager. My wife has already planned 6 months of holidays and we've pretty much spent half the money in our minds. It better happen!

Yup, I'm out of there. Hand in my PC next week, keep my car for 3 months. Slight problem is that the waiting period for new cars is up to 12 months, so that is #1 priority.

Three months with the car? Do you still get a gold watch...
In any event, enjoy your new life Greg.
Try to pick up an ex demo car. From Miata.net I know that RF MX5s have a 12 month wait from order.

No gold watch, just a gift card and a framed certificate. My job this afternoon is to phone the local dealers and see if there are any new cars I'm interested in (Everest or Escape)- some models are unavailable until next year.
