Re: The Army cancels the M10 Booker, a ‘light tank’ that was too heavy

IIRC, it was to use the stockpile of 105s the Abrams were originally armed with. Bad procurement systems and people plus know nothing bean counters generally produce bad outcomes. And that is the opinion of a govt lawyer, though not one working in anything like defence. Somethings are universal tho...

Very interesting as always.

During my recent convalescent time I made a point of delving back into DE.

Many thanks for sharing it with us.

Mine too.

Sydney is considered ground zero for bad driving. Visitors from Adelaide give up and take taxis.

Congrats on the promotion Jotun.

As a fellow public/civil servant I have great confidence that you will consult Sir Humphrey whenever needed.

Re: Left turns

My recent, 13 March, problem is with someone turning right, though bear in mind here we drive on the left. Approaching an intersection with green lights both ways an oncoming diver "decided" to turn right without giving way and t-boned me. The impact was principally on my driver's door. Th...

Re: Job search frustration...

Yeah, good luck.

After 7 1/2 years in my current role (Manager of Legal Services for my agency) I am going through having to apply for the role afresh. In a public service sort of way it makes sense but I have not gone through a formal recruitment process for about 30 years. Not fun.

Thank you. :D Honestly I opened this up expecting the worst, and got a decent chuckle instead. We could all use a bit of levity, Agree. It was a sad day when a neighbour whose son was "learning" the trombone moved away. At least another neighbour's daughter who played the drums was pretty...

The underlying portrait looks fine. But the red .... there must be some obscure meaning to it?

My mother had a thing for George Peppard so we all had to watch Banacek. She could even stomach The A-Team!

I note the typos for the B-24 and the L-5 ....

On reflection I am not surprised at the cost of the C-47 and C-54.

Re: Rucking

I thought you were referring to Rugby Union going by the thread title. When I played the rucks could be quite physical. To be rucked was to have yourself moved away from the ball by players using the sprigs on their boots. And yes, it could hurt.

Anyway, good effort!

A colleague told me of an occasion in the state or federal public service, I don't recall which, when someone was asked to order x rolls of toilet paper for use by staff. Somehow the numnuks managed to order x pallets of toilet paper. Needless to say, there were issues with storage when the trucks s...
