Re: Solid state battery hits the market

IF it scales and cost 'Moore's Law' with quantity, it will significantly change calculations for 'renewables' storage. From the 'safety' side, knowing module(s) will NOT 'Halt & Catch Fire' will let a lot of people sleep much easier... Stationary Storage and storage for electric vehicles are tw...

Re: Solar storms have influenced our history – an environmental historian explains how they could also threaten our futu

I have wondered if the US actually did detect a powerful storm incoming and we had say 6-hours of warning could we temporarily shutdown the US power grid to prevent catastrophic damage to that grid? Or would the powers in charge spend all that time arguing about who was in charge and what to do? ye...

Re: SpaceX 2026

I haven't seen this but I've heard about some of the issues. Apollo did a number of unmanned test flights testing out the systems. Here its more of a 'That was old tech from slide rule days. We don't need no stinken testing!' Artemis Started 2017 First flight 11/16/2022 Apollo Started 1960 First Fl...

Re: SpaceX 2026

I'm hoping Artemis II gets canceled or changed to unmanned. Some of the details, especially using the type heat shield that was used on the first, make me uneasy. I don't know if you have read this blog but it is a good read. The heatshield isn't the only problem with the Orion Capsule and Artemis ...

I have a investment in Rocket Labs from several years ago that I hope the SpaceX IPO pushes up the value of RKLB stock.

SpaceX 2026

SpaceX completed 2025 with 165 Falcon 9 Launches. 85% of US orbital launches this year were SpaceX missions. SpaceX also completed this year it's 500th rocket landing and 500th launch of a flight proven booster. Out of those launches 2 where expendable and 1 Falcon 9 booster was not recovered. After...

Re: NASA

It was pulled as he directly went against Trump's comments, publicly. I missed that. What did he say? He wanted to keep or increase NASA's funding, and stated such the day after Trump's proposal to cut NASA's budget in half. That, Issac's history of also donating to Democratic nominees, and the the...

NASA

Jared "Rook" Isaacman has been re-nominated for NASA Administrator. His nomination should never have had been pulled but I am glad to see he is back. Hopefully the Senate will not make him re-do his hearings. Previously he had already passed through the committee and was ready for a full S...

Re: House of Dynamite

Has anyone else watched this yet? I watched this over the weekend and overall I thought it was a good movie. I have some opinions on parts of this, but I'd like to see what other people have to say. At the very least, it shows why you need a multi-layer missile defense system. Overall I also though...

Nuts that it has holes that big.
I think they have discovered how far they can take things with removing heatshield tiles.

Hopefully we will see a catch at Starbase Texas sometime next year.

Shawn Ryan - Jared Isaacman

Really good interview with Jared Isaacman. Covers a range of topics but goes fairly deep into the problems that Jared did see with NASA and what NASA needs to be doing.

Congress has done a lot but NASA has FUBAR a lot of it themselves too. Like projects blowing through the budgets, Webb is a prime example but the Mars Sample Return is a contender too. When NASA says the plan is FUBAR you know its bad. The prime contractor for JWST is Northrup Grumman not NASA. Cos...

When I was laid off from JSC in 2012, I had expected NASA would have people back in orbit within no longer than five years, seven on the outside. Until SpaceX came long, I was wondering if the US would ever put people into orbit on a US vehicle. Now I'm wondering if China or SpaceX will get to Mars...

Starship got a little toasty on the way down but SpaceX was testing how much they could push the vehicle. Super Heavy booster was landed in the Gulf of America ...
