Re: The Cards Reshuffled

Is there supposed to be an additional word or two here? Steele looked at Aubrey quizzically, even as the bluff fellow seemed rather chuffed with that last quip. The man was either mad or both. Very interesting update. Lots of early planning going on. Is one of the things that's on the table removing...

Re: Bolide

I am not aware of significant isostatic rebound from the glaciation in the Great Lakes areas, but there may still be some. The area where you see the most dramatic rebound is around Hudson Bay. Apparently its somehting like a meter a century according to the Canadian Parks. https://parks.canada.ca/l...

Re: Bolide

This reminds me of an episode between my wife and I early in our marriage. We had gotten married in 2005 and then promptly driven to Alaska so I could do grad school. We flew back and forth to Jersey several times and my wife would frequently bemoan the long and difficult flights back and forth. One...

I love that one. Its from a few years ago, if I recall correctly. Very important lesson to keep your flash protection in place between your guns and your magazine!

My mom and I were in Pennsylvania to purchase fireworks the day it was run. We were unable to find it live on TV at that time, but the guy sitting next to us was a retired state cop who claimed to have given one of them a ticket back in the day for, get this, SPEEDING.

Re: North Korean DDG launch

What the ever loving F&#K did they do to make the ship rotate in two dimensions during the launch? Forget to remove the stops in the middle or something? I've seen videos of a bunch of sideways launches because I like to see the idiots watching from the opposite shore get chased away by the wave...

The Weinie 500

I hereby present, for the board's consumption, a replay of the Weinie 500, one of the great, if sadly under publicized, races of our time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMyES63Rgvg To whet your appetite, the first 3 seconds of that video show an ancient lady screaming "Weinies, Start Your Eng...

Tomorrow morning, i'l be dropping my wife off at work, with the flags for the local Girl Scout unit, so when the parade gets started, she can march with the Girl Scouts as they hold the flags. After I drop her off, I'll be stopping by the local USS Thresher monument to spend a few moments in quiet c...

That was my thinking, but when you're being bombed, anyone going after those bombers is your friend. Or possibly just your enemy's enemy. Oh, that's nowhere near true!

A 3 or 4 star admiral can, more than adequately, outrank a rear admiral upper half!

I think, but am not certain, that Spain was bribed to not respond by some vague promise about getting Gibraltar back after the war in some vague timeframe. As far as the actual taking of the Rock from the Brits, I believe that it was a merchant vessel or three, along with a disguised transport. But,...
